There’s an old saying that goes like this, Love without Truth deceives and Truth without Love destroys. Read that again and let it sink in…
Let’s switch out the words and see how it applies to Social Media.
Passion without Process deceives and Process without Passion destroys.
Passion without process – Passion is great and necessary if you want to get people’s attention and show them you care. Passion alone, however, is more like the sound of a gong – noise, noise, noise. Without process your follower doesn’t know how to have a relationship with you. Do you Tweet, do you Facebook, do you Pinterest, do you LinkedIn? Where can I meet you and when will you be there? Will you respond and how long will it take? The follower is looking for relationship and eventually leaves feeling deceived because they don’t feel the commitment.
Process without passion – Process is absolutely necessary to build expectations. When process is king, however, we become a machine without feeling – available, yet cold and rigid. You’re here every day at the same time; but is it for me, or just anyone with a pulse? As relational beings, we know when someone is authentic. Without it, you destroy your relationship because they see that you don’t care.
Social Media done right is a happy balance between Passion and Process. You must believe in your message if you want people to believe in you and you must use process if you want people to stay with you.

Whatever cause you choose to support, remember that the more people you involve in your efforts, the better it is for your selected charity. In the process, you bond with team members, solidify patient relationships, and meet new friends and that is a winning combination!
